2000 – For the celebrations of the new millennium, the members of the Gerontoudis family decided to take a vacation on a Nile River boat for a week, with the help of an Egyptologist tourist guide named Hesham.

They visited: The Valley of The Kings- The Hatshepsut Temple- The Colossi of Memnon-The Karnak & Luxor Temples – The Edfu & Kom Ombo Temples-The Aswan High Dam- The Nasser Lake-The Philae Temple- and the Unfinished Obelisk.

2000-Onboard the m/s “Nile Pioneer”, Christoforos Gerondoudis playing ping-pong with the Egyptian captain of the boat.

In the Valley of the kings, rock cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the new kingdom.

About the Author

He was born in Asmara, Eritrea of Abyssinia in 1903 and died in Athens in 1991. He was fluent in Greek and Italian and also spoke French and English. From 1935 he lived on his beloved island of Lemnos starting his own family.
