QUALIFICATIONS

  1. He graduated in 1956 from Lemnos High School with distinctions in 10 subjects.
  2. He graduated in 1958 from the Hydra Naval Academy with distinctions in all subjects.
  3. In 1967 he obtained his Master Mariner’s Diploma with Distinction.
  4. 1972 he obtained (by correspondence) and then written exams in Athens a Diploma of the ITE in Electronics (Radio and Television).
  5. In 1974 it obtained certification from the American company “BANDAG Inc.” in tire retreading technology for bus and truck tires.
  6. In 2005, he obtained certification in the technology of WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS of the American company “KINETICO INC.”

BIOGRAPHY (CAREER) TO DATE

  1. In 1958 Appointed as an Apprentice Officer of the Merchant Navy on a ship of the company “Lyras Bros of London” (Greek shipowners).
  2. 1961-1962 served as Captain of a Patrol Vessel, serving his military service at the Port Authority of Piraeus.
  3. In 1963 he returned to the company “Lyras Bros” and served on the company’s ships in the positions of first Mate and then in the position of Chief Mate until 1967.
  4. In 1967 he passed the final examinations for the First-Class Master’s diploma with distinction and was appointed First Master at the age of 29 and continued in this position for a period of seven years until 1974, on ships of the same company.
  5. Migrated to South Africa in 1974 and served as a shareholder and Technical Director in Bandag Tyrecaps Ltd, after three months of training (by American technicians of BANDAG LTD.) in bus and truck tire retreading.
  6. In 1983 Bandag Tyrecaps was sold and a new tire retreading company, Durable Treads Manufacturing, was established. He again served as a Shareholder and Technical Director of the new company until 1987.
  7. In 1988 the worldwide patent rights for the new tire retreading system “Maxiprest System of Tire retreading” were purchased and the new group of companies “Maxiprest Ltd” was created, where he worked as a Shareholder and Technical Director. He also served as CEO of both the subsidiary companies “Maxiprest Manufacturing” and “Maxiprest Properties”.
  8. On October 15, 1997, the company “Maxiprest Ltd.” was incorporated. on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
  9. In 2003 the Japanese company “Bridgestone” bought the majority share of the shares of the company “Maxiprest Ltd”.
  10. In 2004, Chris Gerondoudis sold the shares he held in the company, resigned from all his positions in South Africa and returned permanently to Greece.
  11. In 2005 he was first trained and then bought the rights to represent and sell all the products of the American company “KINETICO WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS” (for Greece and Cyprus).
  12. In 2013 (aged 75) he sold the agency rights of KINETICO and retired to Greece.

From 1973 to 2004 he served as a Founding Member, President, Vice President or as a member of the Board of Directors of the following institutions:

  1. To the Lemnian Brotherhood of South Africa (Member 1973-2004). President 1987-1991 & 1997-2004).
  2. In the Holy Church of Panagia Pantanassa (member of the Board of Directors 1974-2004 & President from 1982-1984)
  3. In SAHETI 100 & SAHETI FOUNDATION: (Founder of SAHETI FOUNDATION, Chairman and member until 2004).
  4. On the SAHETI BOARD 0F DIRECTORS (Member 1975-2004 & Chairman for 3 years 1992-1994)
  5. In the Federation of Greek Communities & Associations of South Africa (member 1974-2003 Vice-President 1988-1993) & President 1993-1994).
  6. At the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (member until 2003).
  7. In the Greek Community of Johannesburg and in the Hellenic Athletic Club (member 1974-2004).
  8. In 1990, a color book of 128 pages containing a summary of the History of Lemnos, in Greek and English, was published by CH. Gerontoudis as the author.
  9. At the South African Bank of Athens (served as non-Executive Director, Head of the Audit Department from 1999 to 2003).

PRIZES

  1. Award given to him in 1961 by the late King Paul of Greece, for obtaining the highest marks during his training period in the Coast Guard (for his Military service)
  2. 1998 the Excellence Award of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (Man of the Year, for his excellent business activity).
