1977, After the birth of their first child Leonidas in 1972, Captain Christoforos Gerondoudis and his wife Melpo decided to give up the sea at the end of the year 1973. In 1974 applied for South African citizenship. The application was approved and they settled in South Africa. The building of their first house was completed in 1975 in Gallo Manor-Sandton-Johannesburg. In this picture their son Leonidas Gerondoudis, 5 years old. The family lived for 10 years in Gallo Manor. Their 2nd child Maria was born in Dec. 1974 and the 3rd child Elena in Oct. 1979. Northeast view.

About the Author

He was born in Asmara, Eritrea of Abyssinia in 1903 and died in Athens in 1991. He was fluent in Greek and Italian and also spoke French and English. From 1935 he lived on his beloved island of Lemnos starting his own family.
